Charlyn is a Singaporean educator, teacher, mentor and dancer with a vast professional experience and deep interest in coaching and sharing her love for dance with the next generation of dancers.
As the pioneer professional dancer with the Human Expression Dance Company (T.H.E dance company), her repertoires include “Old Sounds”, “Silence”, “Water Bloom”, ”Within. Without”, “The Man In The Center” by the Artistic Director Kuik Swee Boon, “Void” by Boi Sakti, “Where The Wind Blows” by Zhang Xiao Xiong. She has toured and performed with the company in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Poland, Paris, Dubai and China.
Having taught at Singapore Chinese Girls School, Cheng Ballet Academy and Singapore Ballet Academy, Charlyn hopes to be an inspiration and nurture the young dancers in Singapore. She was also the Resident Trainer and Guest Teacher for The Royal Dance-Off Dance Company (TRDO) as well as T.H.E Second Company. Both companies are the leading platforms for Contemporary dance in Singapore today. She is also a recipient of the Georgette-Chan Arts Scholarship and is a qualified ballet instructor with the Royal Academy of Dance (London).
Charlyn now focuses as Founder and Director of BarreWorks.

Fiona began her Classical ballet training under the Royal Academy of Dance from the age of 8 years old. She received her pre-tertiary education at School of the Arts, Singapore, where she trained in contemporary and ballet, and graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Fiona joined T.H.E Second Company as an apprentice in 2013 after training under distinguished artiste, Silvia Yong. She further pursued her dance education with Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA), practicing diverse movement disciplines and graduated with a BFA Degree. During her time in Taiwan, Fiona performed works of Cloud Gate Dance theatre by Lin Hwai-Min including “Cursive” and “Legacy”.
Part of the TNUA program, she was a dancer in Focus Dance Company 2018 and performed masterworks such as “The Wall” choreographed by artistic director of Cloud Gate 2, Cheng Tsung-Lung.
Zecharie started her Classical ballet training with Lu Ying, under the Royal Academy of Dance in Shanghai at a young age. Upon moving back to Singapore, she trained under Cheng Hsienfa.
With an extensive performing experience both locally and internationally, she performed in ”The Nutcracker" with the Shanghai Ballet Company, "六一晚会" on the China Central Television (Beijing), “International Youth Ballet Night” with Kaohsiung City Ballet, “Are You Up For It” wth Mediacorp Singapore, Repetto Singapore Store Opening, and SG50 Concert Series in the Park.
She has been awarded 1st place in the American Ballet Competition, NBA Tokyo Competition and WBAC Grand Prix for Contemporary and was a finalist at the World Ballet Competition. She was also invited to perform at the "All Star of Dance" Gala Performance at the World Ballet Competition, USA (2013 and 2015). In addition, she also attended intensive programs at the Royal Academy of Dance and Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
Zecharie started teaching in 2017 and is now pursuing the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate of Ballet Teaching under mentorship of Ms Charlyn Lin and a Bachelor in Business Management at SIM (University of London).
Zi Qi started Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet lessons in a community centre at the tender age of 5 under Ms. Jane Tan. In school, she went on to explore different genres of dance such as Chinese Dance, and has participated in multiple productions as well as Singapore Youth Festival competitions throughout her schooling life.
After graduating from the London School of Economics with BSc. Actuarial Science in 2015, she started assisting and teaching part time at Amy’s School of Dance while juggling her day job. Through this, she had the chance to be exposed to ATOD Classical Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop syllabi. She has also had the opportunity to choreograph pre-school Ballet and Jazz items for a recital.
Zi Qi is certified in Progressive Ballet Technique, and is currently pursuing her Royal Academy of Dance Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies under Ms. Charlyn Lin’s mentorship.
E-Va started her dance journey with Classical Ballet at the age of 3. As her passion for dance grew with age, E-Va enrolled into LASALLE College Of The Arts and graduated from with a BA (Hons) in Dance in 2013. She later went on to pursue a Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, UK in 2019.
Upon graduating from LASALLE in 2013, E-Va joined contemporary dance company; Re:Dance Theatre. Led by Artistic Director Albert Tiong, she performed in local festivals including M1 Contact and NUS Arts Festival. E-Va has toured with Selina Tan to perform “Footprints in Dance” at Beijing Dance Festival 2017. She has also performed in Singapore’s National Day Parade 2017 under Music and Drama Company.
E-Va teaches Ballet and Contemporary in dance studios and CCA groups. She led the Liberté Dancers of Peirce Secondary School to Short+Sweet Competition in Penang and brought home the Best Newcomer Award in 2018.
Hip Hop Instructor | Studio Manager
Ben started dancing at the age of 12. Curiosity brought him a step into dance, and it grew into an interest thereafter. Now, he’s proud to say that dance is a passion and a very important part of his life.
Specialised in Hip Hop and Jazz funk, Ben has been teaching dance full-time for 6 years and has extensive experience as a dance artist for 16 years of practice. He has been engaged as a choreographer/ producer for ASEAN Youth Exchange in Korea (2013) ; Strictly Dance Zone Waves productions (from 2010 - 2019) ; WTA Tennis Opening Ceremony (2016) etc.
As a dance educator, Ben coaches and mentors students at various schools and studios, and believes that dance can value-add to their lives.
Melissa began dancing Ballet at the age of 7 and later went on to explore other styles of dance such as Jazz, Street Jazz, Hip Hop and Urban Choreography. She first studied under the Royal Academy of Dance and has since completed the Ballet Examinations till Intermediate with Distinctions. She then furthered her dance training at Broadway Dance Center, New York and graduated from the International Student Visa Program in 2016. She is currently pursuing the various grades of the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing Modern Jazz syllabus.
Melissa has been teaching full-time for 8 years since graduating from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Communication Studies. She currently teaches dancers from as young as 2.5 years, to students from Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions.
Chloe started her dance journey at age 3 under the tutelage of Donato C. Ferrer at Attitude Performing Arts Studio. She went on to pursue her passion for dance at School of The Arts, Singapore (SOTA) from 2011 to 2016, and graduated as one of the top scorers in the International Baccalaureate Career-related Program.
Currently, Chloe is attending the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under merit scholarship, and will earn her undergraduate degree in the spring of 2021.
Chloe has worked with dance faculty members such as Marcus Schulkind,
Ruka White, Kurt Douglas, Danielle Davidson and Daniel Pelzig, among other acclaimed faculty. To enrich her dance education, Chloe has attended dance intensives at The Juilliard School (2016), Batsheva Dance Company (2017/2018) and Nuova Officina Della Danza Summer Program (2019).
Ariel has extensive experience as a dancer in the performing arts scene for 28 years with exposure all over Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.
She has been practicing yoga since 2010 as a body conditioning exercise that complements her interest in dance. Yoga has given her the gift of awareness through experiencing the union of breath, body and mind. More than just physical benefits, yoga also brings mindfulness within oneself.
Along her learning journey in yoga, she has gained strong interest and is currently a E-RYT 200 Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher under Yoga Alliance International - Rishikesh Himalaya Yoga Institute (International) India.
Ariel has experience teaching yoga at Shine Yoga in Vietnam and currently teaches Yoga Stretch, Hatha Yoga & Multi Hatha at BarreWorks, Beatfactory Fitness and Anytime Fitness Gym in Singapore.
Lynette started ballet at a young age, completing the Royal Academy of Dance graded examinations. She then transitioned to Jazz and contemporary dance undergoing training from Zaki Ahmad and Zaini Tahir at St Andrews Junior College and NUS Dance Ensemble respectively. She has performed in Prague Dance Festival and won 1st place in Solo Category from The Royal Dance Off dance competition in 2015.
A member of T.H.E Second Company since 2010, Lynette has performed in its annual liTHE showcases and the M1 CONTACT contemporary Dance Festival. She has often traveled and collaborated with overseas choreographer.
Prior to joining T.H.E Dance Company as a dance artist in 2017, she was based in Taiwan and worked with HORSE Dance Theatre, as well as completed her training as a certified Pilates instructor.
Eva graduated with a First Class Honors, (BA) Degree in Dance from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2014. Upon graduation, she joined Maya Dance Theatre as a Dance Artist in 2015. She has been involved in dance exchanges, choreographic collaborations and workshops with dance artists around the world such as Ibu Nyoman Sekarni & Nyoman Budi Artha of Tri Pusaki Sakti Foundation (Bali, Indonesia), Olivier Tarpaga (Bukina Faso/Philadelphia, USA), Danang Pamungkas (Solo,Indonesia), Rachel Arianne Ogle (Perth, Australia) and so on.
With her involvement in Maya, she aims to gain more experience in the field of dance and eventually play a vital role in contributing to the development of contemporary dance in her hometown, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Her classes mainly focus on the dancer’s relationship with the floor. By exploring breathing, speed and the release of energy throughout the body in order to activate the relationship between the center and the joints, moving in and out of the ground more efficiently by maintaining a centered state.
